Decals have thousands of applications. Since their use is so varied, they need to meet each particular construction and requirement.

Some of the considerations of decal applications are: The length of use, temperature, weather, permanence, bar coding, numbering, laminating, varnishing, size, color and quantity. Decals are often promotional, but their main use is usually informational.

Most decals are printed on a substrate of vinyl or polyester with a pressure sensitive adhesive pre-coated to the rear side, protected by a throw away liner. After printing by screen process, letterpress, digital imaging, or flexography, the labels are finished.

Finishing can involve laminating to “bury” the printing, protecting it from wear. The decals are “kiss-cut” to the liner and waste is removed.
