Standard PressureBond© Membrane Switch Assembly

For over 40 years Bovie Screen has been a leading manufacturer of PressureBond© MEMBRANE SWITCHES, a product widely used in the appliance, medical and electronics industries. PressureBond© MEMBRANE SWITCHES offer an economical alternative to mechanical switches. They allow for graphic overlay design and facilitate brand marking. A typical PressureBond© MEMBRANE SWITCH is constructed in the following layers:

Membrane Switches

  1. The Graphic Overlay:
A polyester or polycarbonate film printed on its second surface with the switch locations and copy required. The overlay can be flat or embossed.
  2. Graphic Adhesive:
An adhesive layer attaches the Qual-Cover© Graphic Overlay to the switch.
  3. Dome Retainer:
Captures the domes and keeps them in position in the spacer.
  4. Spacer Layer:
Acts as a well, holding the domes above the circuit. This creates a normally open switch.
  5. The Bottom Circuit Layer:
Has both poles of the switch, or LED, array and the tail which connects to the printed circuit board.
  6. Black Adhesive Layer:
Used to apply the finished switch to the product.
